In brief

This site is a picture-and-text diary, not a business. It uses no analytics, advertising or social-media services, builds no usage profiles and embeds no third-party content; even the fonts are served by the site itself. Personal data arises only where delivering the pages technically requires it — or when you write.

Hosting and connection data

The site runs on Microsoft Azure in the Frankfurt am Main data centre, Germany; the pictures come from there too. It is technically maintained by CARECOM Consulting Harald Mühlhoff, Wetter (Germany). When a page is opened, the platform processes the connection data this requires: IP address, time, the address requested, the previously visited page and information about browser and operating system.

This site keeps no access logs with IP addresses of its own. For error and performance analysis, Azure Application Insights records technical operating data — the IP address is not stored, and after 90 days the rest is deleted too. Under Swiss law, Germany offers an adequate level of data protection; Microsoft may also process data in the USA and is certified under the Data Privacy Framework.

Cookies

No analytics cookies, no advertising cookies. Three are technically necessary: one protects forms from being submitted in your name by another site, two make sure your requests reach the same server. None of them contains anything about you, and all disappear when you close the browser. Anyone signing in to maintain the site — that is only the people who look after it — additionally gets a session cookie.

If you write to kontakt@gedankenfotografie.ch, your message and address are used only to reply and are not passed on.

Your rights

You may request information about your personal data, have it corrected or deleted, and object to its processing; where the EU General Data Protection Regulation applies, you may also request restriction of processing and data portability. An e-mail to the address above is enough.

Complaints can be lodged with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU, with the supervisory authority of your country.
